Human Nature’s Anna Meloto-Wilk wins global round of Cosmetics Design’s Beauty Industry Woman of the Year Award

Human Nature Co-Founder and President Anna Meloto-Wilk has been named by London-based beauty industry publication Cosmetics Design as the winner of the Global Beauty Industry Woman of the Year Award.

The Global Beauty Industry Woman of the Year Award honors female beauty industry professionals whose pioneering spirit, leadership and mentorship is shaping the future of the cosmetics and personal care industry.

“When we started Human Nature, I never imagined that we would one day be noticed by Europe’s beauty industry giants! Since the beginning, our incredibly hard working little team just tried to stick to what we believed was right – loving the Philippines through our ingredients, loving the poor as a social enterprise and making safe, natural products affordable for ordinary Filipinos,” shares Anna Meloto-Wilk.

“This award is proof that ‘Made in the Philippines’ can truly be just as good as ‘Made in France’ or ‘Made in the UK’ and I hope it will encourage other Filipinas to never give up on our country and our talented, heroic people.”

Meloto-Wilk’s win adds a fresh distinction to the proudly-Filipino brand. Human Nature was also awarded the Sustainability Pioneer plum for its social entrepreneurship work in Asia by Paris-based think tank Ecovia Intelligence (Organic Monitor) during the Sustainable Beauty Awards ceremonies last October.

It is the first Filipino cosmetic brand certified cruelty-free by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and the first and only Southeast Asian beauty and personal care brand with products certified by the US Natural Products Association (NPA). Human Nature holds the distinction of having the highest number of NPA-certified products in the world.

Meloto-Wilk emphasizes that all the accolades are rooted in the company’s vision for the Philippines.

“Our dream is to unlock the potent qualities of the best of the Philippines natural flora and turn them into world class sustainable products. We hope that these industry wins will encourage more companies to conduct their businesses in a more compassionate and sustainable way. “

Over 250 companies joined the inaugural Global Beauty Industry Awards.

Regional winners of the Beauty Industry Woman of the Year Award were also announced. Sarah Chapman of Sarah Chapman Skinesis was recognized for her work Europe while Nanette De Gaspé of Canadian brand Nanette De Gaspé Beaté represented the Americas.

Aside from the Global Beauty Industry Woman of the Year Award, winners for six other categories were unveiled. Lucas Meyer Cosmetics’ red clover flower extract Miniporyl  won the Best Skincare Ingredient, luxury organic skincare brand Paris Honoré won Best Use of an Ingredient in a Finished Product, heritage brand Givaudan won Best Color Cosmetic Ingredient, an emulsion produced by Momentive won Best Sensory Ingredient, Vytrus Biotech won Best Hair Care Ingredient and Nanette De Gaspé Beaté won Best Indie Brand.

The awarding ceremony for global winners will be held at the In-Cosmetics Global Exhibition in London on April 4-6, 2017. In-Cosmetics Global is attended by over 9000 cosmetics manufacturers from the world over, making it one of the largest international exhibitions for the personal care industry.
