Maynilad shifts to Paperless Billings

If there’s one thing that I considered as a great change in this period of pandemic – it is how we adapt technology for convenience. Before, most of us don’t see these apps as necessary in our way of living. But when pandemic striked, we were forced to adapt and do errands online such as bank transactions, grocery shopping, payments and others.

Not only that it provided convenience, but safety when it comes to our health as well. Personally, before I don’t really appreciate these things but now, I’ve seen how it helped me to manage our daily lives. But what about when it comes to our bills? I’m sure most of us still go out to settle these bills right before due date. Speaking of such, let me share something about Maynilad Paperless Billing Program. It is a program that allows Maynilad customers the option to receive an Electronic Statement of Account (eSOA) instead of the physical copy of their SOA.

I found this initiative from Maynilad as a good alternative nowadays and beneficial to customers. Here are the reasons why:

It removes the need for physical contact with meter readers to get your hard copy SOA, thus preventing possible COVID19 transmission

I definitely agree on the no physical contact needed. As we prioritize health and safety nowadays, we can’t be too relaxed. Especially that I’m living with my parents who are both senior citizens, they are vulnerable to the virus. Even
though almost everyone at home are fully-vaccinated, we cannot let our guard down. Eliminating personal contact is a better option.

It reduces paper consumption and is, thus, environment-friendly.

Yes to this! How many paper bills are all over the house which just adds-up to trash. Being mindful to the environment thru reduction of paper consumption is indeed a big help for the next generation.

It’s very easy to enroll in Maynilad’s Paper Billing Program. Either registered owner or the tenant/occupant can enroll. Only one (1) enrollee per account. See details below:

• For Customers with My Water Bill online portal account as of October 22, 2021

All customers with My Water Bill online portal account as of October 22, 2021 will be pre-enrolled in the program, thus they will stop receiving a printed SOA starting with their November 2021 billing. These customers will receive SMS and email notifications regarding the pre-enrollment. Those who are not interested to enroll in the program may opt out. Just text MAYNILAD<space>OFF<space>PAPERLESSCONTRACT<space>ACCOUNT NUMBER send it to 09191626000.

Note: If the customer decided to opt out less than three working days before their reading date, the customer will still be automatically enrolled in the program. The unenrollment will only take effect in their December 2021 billing.

• For Customers who will create My Water Bill online portal account starting October 23, 2021 onwards

To create an account, just follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://mywaterbill.mayniladwater.com.ph/
  2. Enter your Contract Account Number (CAN). 
  3. Nominate a password (The password should be between 6 to 20 characters with at least one (1) uppercase and lowercase letter, and one (1) numeric digit). 
  4. Set security questions to secure your account. 
  5. Select your personal image.  
  6. Input your contact information. 

Enrollment can be done via SMS once the account has been validated. To enroll, just follow the syntax below and send it to 09191626000. MAYNILAD<space>ON<space>PAPERLESS<space>CONTRACT ACCOUNT NUMBER

Note: The customer must ensure that the mobile number being used for the enrollment is the same mobile number registered in the My Water Bill online portal account.

• For Other Customers

Customers may contact Maynilad through any of the following channels and provide your name, Contract Account Number (CAN), mobile number, and email to enroll in the program. 1. Since I already enrolled our account, it is now easier for this mom to keep track of our water bill consumption every month. It’s also great to monitor the budget allotment for utility bills based from the past months. Because I admit, most of the time I forget how much amount to be included on the expenses.
